2. This is the contents page that I am
analysing, from Acoustic Magazine –
Winter 2013..
3. Representation
The images used on this front cover represent the
acoustic genre. They represent this genre of music
because many pictures of acoustic guitars are
shown. Also, the layout is sophisticated and the
colour scheme is delicate which symbolises the type
of music that is featured within this magazine.
The model featured on the front cover (which is
shown on the contents page) looks pale and gentle
which also represents the gentle nature of the
genre.
One of the images is in black and white which is
also a stereotypical representation of this genre.
Examples are shown on the next slide.

5. Fonts
There are 2 different fonts used
in this contents page: one for
the subheading which is bold,
and one that is for the detail,
which is not bold. The sizes are
14/16 for both.
The font links to the house
style because the same fonts
are used throughout and on the
front page. Also, the colour of
the text is nearly always black
– apart from the white
masthead and cover stories on
the front cover.
6. Articles
This magazine has 111 pages and the main
article features on the 38th page.
There are between 2 and 8 pages between
the other articles – of which there are 22.
These articles are set out along 3 columns of
text where 10 images are placed, these
images feature on every column causing
minimal white space on the contents page in
general.
Ten of the stories – out of a possible 22 – are
illustrated with an image.
7. Who is the target audience?
I think that the target audience would be
people within the ages of 18 and 30.
I think this because the images are
youthful and are of young people – except
the odd one. This suits the target audience
because people of a certain age will
recognise people of a similar age more
than models of an older or younger age,
although there will definitely be some
exceptions.
The magazine is also sophisticated and
delicate which suits this specific age
range.
