The Civil War By: Kyle Dunn
Reason for War American Civil War was fought between The northern “free states” and southern “slave states” The 11 Southern States wanted to retain slavery.
Hostilities Confederate forces attacked Fort Sumter. Lincoln Tried to take it back This led to more states to succeed
Emancipation Proclamation President Lincoln declared that a major goal of the war was the freedom of all slaves in the South.
End of War Many battles were won by Southern General Robert E. Lee. But Lee’s forces were turned back at the battle of Gettysburg in 1863. On April 9th 1865 Lee Surrendered to General Grants Northern army at Appomattox Court House.
