However, Top Gear, a British TV show is shown by each
episode and not a show all together. This makes it hard to see
what people actually want.
3. I then decided to narrow it down to box office ratings and I was
able to come up with a list that gave me a better understanding
of people want from a documentary.

Channel 4 have their own online service that allows you to watch their
programs online for free. They currently have 312 documentaries up on
their site. Here is a list of the most popular.
From that list I was able to see that the people are most interested in
documentaries that features things that are different from the norm. They
like to see ‘how the other half’ live and fine it interesting to see further in to
their stories

With the news about
Jimmy Savile getting
out, it didn’t take very
long for a documentary
about it to be realised.
This documentary,
filmed by ITV, brought in
2 million views. From
this I am able to see
that people are very
interested in current
events. The more hype
that is around the
subject, the more likely
people are going to
watch it.
