- 16. 4+ million internet users and 17+ million mobile subscribers.
- 18. What does this all mean?
- 20. Global competitiveness in knowledge and business process outsourcing for economic growth.
- 21. Creation of new jobs and industries, as well as improved national productivity in existing industries.
- 22. Enhanced education via E-Learning.
- 24. Improved access to global markets.
- 25. Near-free and real-time global communications due to convergence.
- 26. Improved workforce productivity and collaboration with strategic partners.
- 27. Emergence new/enhanced business models.
- 29. Improved social networking, collaboration and communication.
- 30. Will work or school from home, or anywhere for that matter.
- 31. Improved access to services such as m-commerce, e-commerce and e-government.
- 33. Highly mobile investment climate and workforce
- 34. Painful transition required to become a knowledge economy, almost overnight.
- 35. Need to increasingly work towards a “green” economy as climate change reality demands.
- 36. So, what's needed to make this work?
- 38. Deployment of next generation Internet infrastructure, especially in the “last mile” for end-user delivery.
- 39. Innovation in the economy to take advantage of concepts like m-commerce, converged media, social media, e-learning, etc.
- 41. Lots of local content already exists, but its not online. It has to be digitized, edited, packaged and delivered on the Internet.
- 42. Original content created just for the Internet will also be key.
- 43. Content = Interest = Growth = Value .
- 45. Create e-inclusion programs for the whole country, especially in rural Kenya where Internet is lacking.
- 46. Confidence and trust needed for the skillful use of high speed Internet to play, learn, socialize and work.
- 47. A fundamental understanding of the social-economic benefits
- 49. Business has to drive innovation and delivery. Government needs to create the enabling environment.
- 50. Citizens must be able to fully participate in the High Speed Internet economy with both the Government and Business.
- 52. Government, Business and Citizens have to work together to realize its full socio-economic potential.
- 53. The Opportunities and Challenges are many but successful models exist globally that are adaptable to Kenya.
- 54. High Speed Internet will be a game changer – if leveraged properly!
