Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is a place to learn, “Learning Express Library”
and not just through books. We host hundreds of
classes, workshops and training opportunities at
our sixty locations every year. We also offer
services that can help you learn a new language or
skill, prepare you for the workforce, or get a high
school diploma. BPL librarians have also

English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) Services
For new Americans and others whose first language is not English, the Library provides free
ESOL materials, classes, and conversation groups.
Multilingual Center
The Multilingual Center has a staff of bilingual librarians and volunteer guides to help
patrons find information in books and language learning programs in a variety of languages.
Pre-General Equivalency Diploma (GED) Services
Pre-GED preparation courses are offered at several BPL branches.
Skills Training & Employment Project (STEP)
STEP Job seekers are encouraged to participate in our Skills Training & Employment Project
