KGIC HALIFAX CAMPUS HIGHLIGHTS
January – Skating at the Halifax Outdoor Rink, “The Oval”
Halifax is all about getting outside and being active. Let’s go skating!
The city provide free skates to anyone who would like to try out skating, whether it’s your
first time, or if you skate like a professional.
February – Wentworth Overnight Ski Trip
March – Maple Syrup and Wine Festival
Enjoy brunch at the Malagash Community Centre. Go to Jost Vineyards for the maple
wine tastings. Visit the Sugar Moon Farm for a tour of the maple farm and hike the trails.
Buy some maple syrup. (Bring ID! Must be 19 years old to drink.)
April – Peggy’s Cove Day Trip
May – 83rd Annual Apple Blossom Festival - Day Trip
June – Camping Trip at Shubie Park
KGIC Halifax has 3 tents that we like to use during the summer. Let’s go swimming!
Let’s BBQ! Let’s roast marshmallows over the bonfire.
July – Royal Nova Scotia International Tattoo
Don't miss the world’s largest annual indoor show. Only in Nova Scotia! There is always
something new to see and experience. There are Canadian acts as well as International acts.
There’s bagpipes, highland dancers, la culture de l’acadie and military traditions. The Tattoo also
features acrobatic acts, modern music, contemporary dancing, and trampoline routines.

The cost of transportation, ski / snowboard / snow shoe equipment, lift ticket,
lesson AND accommodations are all covered with one fee. We will leave
KGIC Halifax Saturday morning and come back to the city Sunday afternoon.

Peggy’s Cove is a beautiful Nova Scotia landmark about 45 minutes from
Halifax! There are shops, a museum, ice cream, a restaurant and of course
the iconic lighthouse on the rocks!

Students can enjoy a trip to the Annapolis Valley to see the Apple Blossoms and take part in the
festivities.

August – Prince Edward Island Trip
KGIC Halifax is the closest campus to Prince Edward Island (PEI). We will drive
to PEI on Friday, after school and camp for 3 nights and arrive back in Halifax on
Monday. We will BBQ and roast marshmallows over the bonfire. We will visit the Anne
of Green Gables House, Cavendish Beach, Charlottetown AND eat lobster. Let’s go!
September – Atlantic Film Festival
The Atlantic Film Festival is an eight-day celebration of film from around the world. It’s a
festival that turns Halifax into a city-wide film experience.
October – Nocturne Halifax: Art at Night
This is a festival committed to showing off and enjoying art in all its forms. The festival
goes from 6pm to midnight in and around downtown Halifax and downtown Dartmouth.
November– Mooseheads Hockey Game
The Halifax Metro Centre is a short walk from our KGIC Halifax campus. Let’s go watch
a hockey game! The local team is called “The Halifax Mooseheads” and they are totally
amazing!
December – Curling
Let’s go to the Mayflower Curling Club and enjoy playing the
unique sport of curling.
