1. Nucleus The central membrane-bound organelle that manages cellular functions and contains DNA. Located in eukaryotic cells.

2. Cell Membrane The outer part of the cell that helps filter things that come in and out of the cell.

3. Nucleolus An organelle in the eukaryotic cell nucleus that produces ribosomes.

4. Ribosome Nonmembrane-bound organelles. Located in the nucleus where proteins are assembled.

5. Cytoplasm Clear, gelatinous fluid found in the cells that are the site of numerous chemical reactions.

6. Rough Endoplasmic Reticulum Ribosomes in the cytoplasm are attached to the surface where they carry out the function protein synthesis.

7. Smooth Endoplasmic Reticulum Areas of the endoplasmic reticulum that are not studded with ribosomes

8. Golgi Apparatus Organelles in the eukaryotic cells with a system of flattened tubular membranes

9. Vacuole Membrane-bound space in the cytoplasm of cells used for the temporary storage of materials.

10. Lysosomes Organelles that contain digestive enzymes.

11. Chloroplasts Chlorophyll-containing organelles found in the cells of green plants and some protists

12. Mitochondria Eukaryotic membrane-bound organelles that transform energy stored in food into molecules.

13. Cytoskeleton Cellular framework found within the cytoplasm composed of microtubules and microfilaments.

14. Plastids Group of plant organelles that are used for storage of starches, lipids, and pigment.

15. Microtubules Thin, hollow cylinders made of protein that provide structural support for eukaryotic cells.

16. Microfilaments Thin, solid protein fibers that provide structural support for eukaryotic cells

17. Centrioles Located in animal cells, it’s a pair of small cylindrical structures composed by microtubules that duplicate during interphase and move to opposite ends of the cell during prophase.

18. Cilia Short numerous hair-like projections composed of pairs of microtubules.
