Monkey Majik
10th Anniversary Album
The objective of this project was to design a CD album of an artists of our choice. Monkey Majik, a Japanese
pop-rock band, is a group that I am constantly inspired when I listen to their songs or watch their music
videos. Instead of a photograph, an illustration that represents the four members was used to express the
band’s unique music and personality.

Pulama Essence
Skin-Care Brand Packaging
The Pulama Essences brand was inspired by the variety of natural resources that is available in Hawaii,
which is where I was born and raised. My goal for this project was to design a local skin care line that would
appeal to tourist, tourists, primarily Japanese, who are looking for a promising product made locally in
Hawaii to bring home. “Pulama” means “cherish” in the Hawaiian language, and I felt it expresses the
brand’s mission to produce a sustainable product that is also nourishing.

to replace pieces that were not cohesive with the collection’s theme. This also gave me an understanding
of how graphic design is applied to the fashion industry.

A quarter long project for Publication Design, I took advantage of the opportunity to create a magazine
dedicated to San Francisco’s various local cafes and bakeries. I was also able to incorporate my love for
photography and layout design, and I feel that the cover of this issue reflects this passion.

Interactive Care Kit
My love for rabbits was my inspiration to create a non-profit, promotional care package. With the help from
SaveABunny, a rescue organization in the Bay Area, I was able to compile “Rabbits 101”, a booklet meant for
potential rabbit parents. The kit also includes an identification card to fill in your rabbit’s information, a con-
tact list that is readily available for reference, and a checklist.

Nendoroid Figurine Series In celebration of the season premire of “Welcome Home, Hashimoto-san!”, Good Smile Company’s
Nendoroid figurines is to release a limited edition set. The objective was to create a package based off
of the original company’s packagedesign and create a collectors edition toy package. The series brand
is expressed in the design, which makes these limited figurines unique.

Visual Guide The story follows an American-born Japanese mouse, Ken Hashimoto, and his new life in Japan as an
aspiring pastry chef. While attending culinary school, Ken works part-time at his grandparent’s coffee
cafe, and also helps them with daily activities. Through his grandparents, Ken experiences the
Japanese people, food, and culture.

Promotional Poster The final piece to the Hashimoto project was to create a poster to promote the return of an original Terry Toons
animation. A photograph is illustrated to convey that this is a series about the relationship between Ojii-chan,
the original Hashimoto character, and Ken, his grandson or the new Hashimoto.
10. Rabbits Pray Media: Free Hand Illustration, Adobe Illustrator
for Japan Inspired by artists in the Japanese comic book industry and the online communitys’ response to aid
victims of the Tohoku Earthquake and Tsunami that occured on March 11, 2011 in Japan. “Rabbits Pray for
Japan” charity pin buttons has raised over $100 with the support of friends, family, and FIDM mentors. Pins
were also sold during Kawaii Kon, an animation and comics convention held in Honolulu, Hawaii.
