Hello, hope your having a good day, today I am going to be to talking about why international students like yourself should consider coming to Waterloo for post secondary education by telling you a little bit of my experience as an International student as well.
I came here on a one year international exchange. And as an international student reading the handbook for information is not enough since there is so much more to know. Through out this presentation I am going to talk about many reasons to choose this prestigious institution above many other in Canada.
Waterloo is one of the most innovative school in Canada. The Blackberry mobile that many of us may be familiar with was created at the Research in Motion Institution aka RIM, which was started by Waterloo students. We have one of the largest engineering faculty in the country.
Speaking of faculties, we are the only school in the entire country with a faculty of mathematics. Waterloo is know for its unique Speech Communication and business programs. The building seen here is the Math building.
Maybe math and engineering does not appeal to the creative side of you. Don’t worry we have more faculties to choose from. From psychology to fine arts and drama there with over 200 programs to choose from your creative positional can be unlimited.
Waterloo has the Largest coop in the country, which can help your build your resume with important professional and personal skills to face the world with confidence.
Our university is ever expanding, by currently adding new buildings for enhancing nano technology, engineering and environmental studies. It is also expanding on an international basis with the recently opened Dubai campus
Waterloo is caters to its diverse student population, from India to Lebanon and Japan to England, we have students from every country and food to satisfy their taste buds right here on campus
With different taste comes different interest, here you can get involved with one or more of the 50 odd clubs on campus. From the student newspaper to the cheese club and break dancing there is something for everybody.
Waterloo is first and foremost an education institute, it enhances your learning by providing you with great technical support. Our class rooms are a place to discuss and debate with professors and fellow students.
Being an international student can be hard espicially if you fall sick, the health services helps take care of you at the same time letting your parents sleep stress free.
Exam time is never fun, but it can studying with your friends can make it easier. Waterloo has 2 major libraries and countless study rooms across campus. If you roommate is done before you and wont stop blasting music, just head to the library.
All study and no play can get tiring, so take a break and head to bomber or poets to unwind and relax in a secure environment right on campus.
Life in university can get stressful and monotonous at times. Waterloo has a scenic beauty of its own. Perfect for those evening walks or lunches on the picnic table.
Waterloo just doesn’t have a big name amongst top educational institutions in Canada
But it is also big in size, spread across 1000 acres, Waterloo is able to give students the space they require
Waterloo has six faculties spread throughout the campus for students to choose from.
Waterloo provides higher secondary education to thousands of students from across the world.
To meet the demands of all the students we have a large number of faculty and staff members working full time to meet these damands.
145,000 students have successfully graduated from Waterloo and are spread out to 147 countries
Everyone can maintain their individuality identity in Waterloo and still be a part of this large family
Waterloo is more than just studying it helps in developing you not just as a student but as an individual.
A fall back of being an international student is that you can get homesick. For those purposes we have trained councilors and on campus and off campus to help you get through those difficult days.
Canadian winters can be harsh, but that is no reason to be lazy. From basketball to squash, rock climbing to extensively equipped gyms Waterloo has it all.
After the work out its time to give yourself a break. There are many free events on campus which can be useful during the periods when your parents might have to transfer funds internationally
As international students we may not be familiar with maps and routes of Canada. To solve this problem we have the FEDs and International students association holding trips to different parts of Canada and US.
But best of all, you meet people of the same interest and varied interest and make friends for life.
