Learning from audience feedback to improve a soap opera trailer
1. Q.3 What have you learnt
from your audience
feedback?
2. During making my Trailer, I decided, due to the popularity on the other existing soap
operas, I would make it for 16-30 year olds:
Once I had done my first draft of the trailer, we sat down and watched all the
trailers and took down audience feedback. This was good and helpful because the
class were the same age as the target and they all liked soaps
Some of the feedback included really I also got negative feedback but
positive things such as: things I could work on such as:
• “the storylines work really
well together” • “the music needs to match the
pace and beat of the actual scenes
• “I like the transitions behind it”
between each scene”
• “Some of the transitions are out
• “the music fits really well to of time”
the piece”
• “It needs to be made a little bit
• “it looks really realistic, I longer”
would actually watch it”
3. After we had the audience feed back I went back to my trailer and changed and learnt a
few new things, such as:
I'm really pleased we made an audience watch it and get feedback, as I could make the
changes that needed to be done to make an all round better soap. It also made me
realise what mistakes I had done, and really helped me develop my skills in things, such
as fixing the music (more in Q.4 on music). All in all I think it helped me develop the best
soap opera I could.
