The Christchurch Earthquake On February 22 nd , 2011 Christchurch was hit by a 6.3 magnitude at 12.51pm. TEAMS of people were involved. This provided an authentic focus for Room 7 - especially as their learning was centred around TEAM PLAYERS – DOING THE RIGHT THING. More specifically they were learning about showing respect to others and the environment. So using their mapping skills they identified where Christchurch was located using co-ordinates.
