Old Cowtown Museum, 1865 Museum Blvd., Wichita
Girl Scouts help bring Old Cowtown Museum (OCM) to life as they demonstrate typical activities of girls and women in the 1870’s. Girls and adults
participating in this unique educational opportunity are dressed in period costumes and “act” as historical characters.
Old Cowtown Museum Costumes: Many girls and adults like to provide their own unique costume, following the museum’s guidelines for sewing
and fabric choice. The patterns for costumes are available for checkout from Karen by calling (316) 522-8973. For more information, contact
Mary Wilson at mwilson@kansasgirlscouts.org. Girls who find it difficult to make their own costume may rent a full costume from those available in
inventory on a first-reserved, first-served basis. There is an additional $22 fee when renting a costume. Girls must provide their own long black
socks and ankle-high black shoes. Complete the costume rental form found in the back of this guide. Attach a check to the costume rental form
and send it to the Wichita Girl Scout Center or pay online. Adults volunteering as unit staff or teens volunteering as Museum Aides or Museum
Leaders-in-Training (LIT) may also request the use of a full costume at no charge. All participants must be in period costumes approved by the
Girl Scout costume coordinator.
Additional Information: Register as a troop or individual. Tagalongs can not be accommodated with the exception of Frontier Fun. Site Volunteer
Training must be completed for noted programs. Cost includes snacks, crafts, activities supplies, and OCM summer patch. For girls who are
interested in attending Old Cowtown Museum and need accommodations, contact Mary Wilson at (888) 472-3683 or (316) 684-6531.
