Always indent in the beginning of a new paragraph.
Have 7-12 sentences in your paragraph.
Always capitalize the letter, “I” when using it as a
subject/pronoun or object/pronoun.
Do not capitalize common nouns.
Capitalize proper nouns (the names of nouns).
3. Chapter 15
Simple Sentences…
Every sentence should have a subject & a verb (who
and a what they are doing).
4. Chapter 16
Combine sentences by using a semi-colon or a
comma plus: and, but, for, so, & nor.
Find the two independent clauses and separate with
a semi-colon.
5. Chapter 17 Run-ons and
Comma Splices
Run-on sentences are two independent clauses that
are not separated with a comma and a coordinating
conjunction (and, but, or, nor, and for).
Run-on sentences can also be separated with a semi-
colon.
Comma splices are commas when they are not used
with a coordinating conjunction (and, not but, or, &
for).
