2. Customer Focus
• SAIC has a long and broad history with customers’ enterprise IT systems,
CONUS and OCONUS, and from centralized systems to federated systems
on the edge: i.e. Airborne, Shipboard, and in Theatre. As customers assess
their objectives to meet their users’ needs, SAIC’s investments into next
generation IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS, will aid customers’ making effective
decisions about investing and executing a cloud strategy appropriate for
them.

NIST Definition
Today, we (SAIC) see a requirement Other terms frequently associated with “cloud
for SOA and services delivery in computing” include:
virtually every major federal agency - “network-centric”
IT services procurement. Tomorrow, we anticipate - “application service provider (ASP)”
seeing “cloud”. - “external hosting” and “co-location”
(Example: GSA IaaS/SaaS procurement) - “private cloud = Intranet-based”

5. SAIC’s Progress Today
• SAIC is assembling an Industry Alliance comprised of many “Key” IT vendors
– Alliance is engaged in the development of a number of pilot implementations
• SAIC has an established Cloud Computing Community of Practice (COP)
– Group generated from all over the company focusing on SAIC’s various strong
customer-centric focus to Cloud Computing within industry
– Focusing on Cloudbursting to support cyclic data processing (Data processing
requirements to support surge or seasonal variations)
• SAIC is internally exploring the use of cloud and implementing today the
following:
– Cloud Security- addressing key data integrity, access, and customer isolation
concerns
– Cloud Virtualization- Dynamic provisioning and bursting
– Quality of Service- Availability and data processing

6. SAIC’s Progress Today cont.
• SAIC has been a Charter Member of the TechAmerica Cloud Computing
Group
• SAIC has developed the ability to stream NASA full motion video (e.g. cyclic
data) through the Amazon cloud.
• From our Bio surveillance projects we have installed our all source analytical
framework with H1N1 flu data and financial management data.
• SAIC offers LANSAT images commercially available through the Amazon
Cloud.
• SAIC has one recent procurement bearing Emergency Management and Law
Enforcement DHS/ICE (consisting of 5 task orders)
