2. Feedback
After creating the first draft of my music video, I
asked people in my media class how they
thought I could improve on what I had. I put
out pieces of paper where they could tick a
letter on some questions to answer, or write
down their comments in the box at the
end, all anonymously. I put their comments in
to pie charts and kept it in front of me for
reference at all times when redrafting my
music video.
3. The Questionnaire
I asked my audience the following questions:
1. What did you feel was the strongest component of the music video
A - The Music Performance
B - The Narrative
C - The Visuals
2. Did you think the music video was long enough?
A - Yes, brevity is a good thing
B - No, it was too short
3. Did you think the video was in keeping with the tone of the song and the lyrics?
A - Yes
B – No
5. Does it address the target audience?
A – yes
B - No
4. Any comments?
9. Question 5
“The cutting between the story and the singer singing the
song can get a bit overused, add something else?”
“I loved the close ups of the guitar”
“The slow motion looked really cool”
These were the anonymous comments that I chose out of 20+ that I felt were most
relevant and useful in redrafting my music video
I used these comments when redrafting my final music video more than any of the other comments. Most of the
comments mentioned things like the shakiness of the camera, but these three in particular allowed me to have
reference when creating the final product. People seemed to like the shots of the guitar close up and the slow
motion, so I made sure I implemented those edits and shots well.
I made sure I used lots of close ups in my final product, as they were well received, but I also wanted to add
something extra to rectify the first point about the simplicity of having just two things going on. I decided to add the
shots of the glass falling to add a metaphorical essence to the music video, that was almost surreal and
juxtaposed the rest of the piece, but also worked to create a cohesive narrative.
10. This was the first draft of my
poster, before adding the actual content
I wanted to ask for feedback. I asked
three people what they thought and
asked them to write down comments:
"The picture is good, I like the black“
"The font doesn't seem right, I think it
should be the other way round, the main
name shouldn't be so 'showy'“
"I love the black and white picture on the
black background, keep that, but there's
something wrong with the title that I can't
figure out. It'd look really good if you
added the album you're advertising?
11. I asked 20 people which album cover draft they preferred, hoping to make the final draft
decision on the basis of their decision.
A B
