1. Mayan Language (Glyphs)
The Mayan language was mostly spoken in Mesoamerica, around 500 B.C.E to 1200 C.E. 6
million people still speak Mayan. There are 21 different versions of Mayan. The first known
writings of the Mayans were in 250 B.C.E. There are 550 logograms, which represent words,
and 150 syllabograms, which represent syllables in the Mayan language. There were 300 glyphs.
100 glyphs were used to represent the names of their gods. The language tends to have a lot of
prefixes and suffixes added to words.
