Colours
Activity
Pair work, whole class, group work or individual work.
Students say the colour they see but not the word which is written in this colour.
Focus
Vocabulary: Colours.
Preparation
You can print a worksheet per student, or if all of your students can see the screen well, they can play by
looking at the screen only.
You can play the same worksheet with all students or give different worksheets to your students.
Students will need timers if playing the variation of the game where speed counts.
Procedure
Pair work
• Explain that students are going to name the colours but not the words.
• Divide your students into pairs.
• Hand out a worksheet per student. Students of one pair should have different worksheets. (You can
use all worksheets in one lesson or use some of them later, during other lessons.) If you use the com-
puter screen, make sure all students can see the pictures well.
• Hand out the correct answers to your students so that each student has the correct answer for his
partner. If you use the screen, your students can copy the correct answers for their partners sepa-
rately.
• Students take turns in naming the colours and checking each other’s answers.
• The student who makes fewer mistakes wins.
VARIATION: If the students make the equal number of mistakes, the one who names the colours faster
wins.

3. LANGUAGE BURGER GAMES – COLOURS
Whole class
• Explain that students are going to name the colours but not the words.
• Hand out a worksheet per student. Students should have the same worksheets. (You can use all
worksheets in one lesson or use some of them later, during other lessons.) If you use the screen,
make sure all students can see the pictures well.
• They then take turns in naming the colours.
• While one student is naming the colours, the others watch and stop him if he makes a mistake. Then
the next student starts naming the colours.
• The winners are those who make fewer mistakes.
VARIATION: If the students make the equal number of mistakes, the one who names the colours faster
wins.
Group work
• Explain that students are going to name the colours but not the words.
• Divide your students into groups.
• Hand out a worksheet per student. Students should have the same worksheets. (You can use all
worksheets in one lesson or use some of them later, during other lessons.) If you use the screen,
make sure all students can see the pictures well.
• Groups then take turns in naming the colours.
• Students of one group take turns in naming the lines with colours.
• The winners are the groups that make no mistakes.
VARIATION:
• If the groups make the equal number of mistakes, the group that names the colours faster wins.
• If you are playing several worksheets in one game, students of one group choose one of them to read
all the lines of one worksheet. They choose a new person for each new worksheet.
• Students take turns in naming only one colour each.
Individual work
• Explain that your student is going to name the colours but not the words.
• Give one worksheet to your student. (You can use all worksheets in one lesson or use some of them
later, during other lessons.) If you use the screen, make sure your student can see the pictures well.

• If your student makes no mistakes he wins.
VARIATION: Your student tries to name the colours as fast as he can. You use a watch to record his time.
