2. Job 1:20-22 Then Job arose, tore
his robe, and shaved his head; and
he fell to the ground and
worshiped. (21) And he said:
"Naked I came from my mother's
womb, And naked shall I return
there. The LORD gave, and the
LORD has taken away; Blessed be
the name of the LORD." (22) In all
this Job did not sin nor charge God
with wrong.
4. JOB
A.The book of Job is the story of a
normal human being who is beset by
misfortune and suffering.
B.In James 5:11, he is pointed to as an
outstanding example of steadfast faith
in the way he handled severe trials.
C.He provides specific life lessons we
can learn about responding to trials.
5. I.FIRST LESSON - Naked I came
from my mother’s womb.
A.All of us come into this world with the
same number of possessions—
NOTHING!
B.Ecclesiastes 5:15 As he came from his
mother's womb, naked shall he return,
To go as he came; And he shall take
nothing from his labor Which he may
carry away in his hand.
6. II. SECOND LESSON - Naked I
shall return there.
A. Luke 12:16-21 Then He spoke a parable to them,
saying: "The ground of a certain rich man yielded
plentifully. 17 And he thought within himself,
saying, 'What shall I do, since I have no room to
store my crops?' 18 So he said, 'I will do this: I will
pull down my barns and build greater, and there I
will store all my crops and my goods. 19 And I will
say to my soul, "Soul, you have many goods laid
up for many years; take your ease; eat, drink, and
be merry." ' 20 But God said to him, 'Fool! This
night your soul will be required of you; then whose
will those things be which you have provided?' 21
So is he who lays up treasure for himself, and is
not rich toward God."
7. II. SECOND LESSON - Naked I
shall return there.
B. Matthew 19:23-24 Then Jesus said to His
disciples, "Assuredly, I say to you that it is
hard for a rich man to enter the kingdom
of heaven. 24 And again I say to you, it is
easier for a camel to go through the eye of
a needle than for a rich man to enter the
kingdom of God."
8. II. SECOND LESSON— Naked I
shall return there.
C. 1 Timothy 6:6-10 Now godliness with
contentment is great gain. (7) For we brought
nothing into this world, and it is certain we
can carry nothing out. (8) And having food
and clothing, with these we shall be content.
(9) But those who desire to be rich fall into
temptation and a snare, and into many
foolish and harmful lusts which drown men
in destruction and perdition. (10) For the love
of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for
which some have strayed from the faith in
their greediness, and pierced themselves
through with many sorrows.
9. III. THIRD LESSON - The Lord gave.
A. The Lord can give because all belongs to Him
Psalm 50:9-12 I will not take a bull from your
house, Nor goats out of your folds. 10 For every
beast of the forest is Mine, And the cattle on a
thousand hills. 11 I know all the birds of the
mountains, And the wild beasts of the field are
Mine. 12 "If I were hungry, I would not tell you; For
the world is Mine, and all its fullness.
B. (Psalm 50:9-12). We must overcome pride’s right
hand—SELFISHNESS. Do you daily acknowledge
God’s gifts to you?
C. James 1:17 Every good gift and every perfect gift
is from above, and comes down from the Father of
lights, with whom there is no variation or shadow
of turning
10. IV. FOURTH LESSON - The Lord
has taken away.
A.Often our favorite word is MINE.
B.Only when we truly TRUST the Lord can
we accept— “The Lord has taken away…”
C.We are clay in His hands. Romans 9:20-21
But indeed, O man, who are you to reply
against God? Will the thing formed say to
him who formed it, "Why have you made
me like this?" 21 Does not the potter have
power over the clay, from the same lump to
make one vessel for honor and another for
dishonor?
11. IV. FOURTH LESSON - The Lord
has taken away.
D.The lump does not question the amount of
clay the potter adds.
E. We must not cry out at the carvings done
on us.
F. How dare we lift up clay hands to heaven
and question His works.
G.We must trust His omniscience.
12. V. FIFTH LESSON - Blessed be
the name of the Lord.
A.We praise Him because He cares for us 1
Peter 5:7 casting all your care upon Him,
for He cares for you.
B.He has given us all good and perfect gifts
James 1:17 Every good gift and every
perfect gift is from above, and comes
down from the Father of lights, with whom
there is no variation or shadow of turning.
C.We pour out our heart to Him in
thanksgiving, love and praise.
13. WHAT ABOUT YOU?
A. Job possessed great riches, but his riches
did not possess him. He remained faithful to
God through good times and bad
1.Job 1:22 In all this Job did not sin nor
charge God with wrong.
2.Job 2:10 But he said to her, "You speak as
one of the foolish women speaks. Shall we
indeed accept good from God, and shall we
not accept adversity?" In all this Job did
not sin with his lips.
3.Job 13:15 Though He slay me, yet will I
trust Him. Even so, I will defend my own
ways before Him.
14. WHAT ABOUT YOU?
B. God offers true riches - Luke 16:11
Therefore if you have not been faithful in
the unrighteous mammon, who will
commit to your trust the true riches?
C. Where are you storing treasures - Matthew
6:19-20 "Do not lay up for yourselves
treasures on earth, where moth and rust
destroy and where thieves break in and
steal; 20 but lay up for yourselves
treasures in heaven, where neither moth
nor rust destroys and where thieves do
not break in and steal.
