* 100 a hundred one hundred.

* 354 three hundred AND fifty-four.
* 1,000 a thousand/ one thousand.
* 8,006 eight thousand AND six.
* 9,999 nine thousand, nine hundred AND ninety-nine.
USE:
Numbers are adjectives and adjectives do not change form in
 English. We say hundred and thousand not hundreds and thousands.
In English we use a comma (,) and not a full stop (.) to show the
 thousands.

USE:
 In English we usually say the numbers one at time. We can use
 the word double if two consecutive numbers are the same.
We usually say OH FOR 0 in telephone numbers. Sometimes
 people say ZERO.

7.45 It’s (a) quarter to eight.     Seven forty-five.
USE:
In formal situations we sayam for times between midnight and
 noon. We say pm for times between noon and midnight.
 For 12.00 in the day we usually say (twelve) noon or midday.
 For 12.00 at night we usually say midnight.

* For reading  the dates, we say the year two by two. (You can think
 that there is a point in the middle of the year.) Example: 1856
 (18.56) eighteen fifty-six.
* 1600: sixteen hundred.
* 1818: eighteen eighteen.
* 1903: nineteen oh three.
* 2001: two thousand and one.
WE WRITE             WE SAY
15th January,1992     the fifteenth of January, nineteen ninety-two.
20th May, 1988       the twentieth of May, nineteen eighty-eight.
29.02.12         the twenty-ninth of February, two thousand twelve.
