       • NSCS.org – Scholarships and Career Opportunities

Check out the NSCS website to learn about scholarship opportunities. People from our
NSCS organization have won these scholarships before so go ahead and take advantage
of this great opportunity. All you have to do is go to NSCS.org and then click on the
Log In button on the left hand side of the page. Type in your UD e-mail and your
password - if you forgot your password just click the ―forgot password button‖. Then
scroll down to and click on the ―Scholarships‖ tab and the current available scholarships
will show up. If you click on the individual scholarship you will see the requirements,
due dates, and any other important information needed for the scholarship. Also while on
the website check out available career opportunities by scrolling down to the career tab
where you can learn about and apply for job opportunities that are available from
different companies.
• Follow Us on Twitter and Like us on Facebook

Follow UD NSCS on Twitter @NSCS_UD. We will have live tweets during meetings,
as well as tweet important dates and information throughout the year. You can also
tweet your questions during meetings and have them answered right away! One point
will be awarded to anyone that follows NSCS.

Like our Facebook page – http://www.facebook.com/nscs.delaware. Be sure to check it
for important information regarding future meetings, the minutes and service trips.

       • The Deal With Points

To be eligible to wear a cord during graduation a member needs to accumulate 25 points.
For a member to be eligible for a free cord they need to accumulate 50 points. For every
meeting that you attend you will receive one point and for each hour of service that you
perform in addition to the three hours through NSCS you will also receive two points.
NSCS also has additional fundraisers, old electronic collections, and other drives that can
allow you to gain more points – look for further information regarding these. If you
perform outside service please e-mail Gabrielle documentation of your hours at
udnscssecretary@gmail.com or give her a hard copy of your documentation at the next
meeting.

       • PACE

PACE has begun. PACE is a very important part of the NSCS organization. PACE helps
kids in 9th -12th grade who are at risk of not attending college. NSCS volunteers help to
mentor the Delaware Future Kids and by tutoring them in their high school subjects,
whether its helping them with homework or to study for a test or just answering the
general questions that they have about college. PACE IS A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO
GIVE BACK TO THE COMMUNITY and help kids who might not have an opportunity
to go to college – something that many of us take for granted.

The PACE program is once a week every Tuesday night from 6:00-7:00pm and it is a 15
minute drive away in Wilmington. The cars and gas will be provided. The program runs
for 10 weeks. If you are interested in participating or have any questions about this
wonderful service opportunity email Tyler at udNSCSpace@gmail.com.

We realize that this is a big time commitment, but since it is such a wonderful program
and we really want to encourage our members to participate we are going to give anyone
that participates in the 10 week program their 3 hours of NSCS community service, 20
points and additional points for the additional hours that you are there for a total of 27
points. If you are not able to make the 10 weeks, Tyler can work with your schedule but
please be able to attend for at least 3 weeks of the program.

Again the program has started so please e-mail Tyler ASAP at udNSCSpace@gmail.com
       if you are interested!!

               • Active Member Rules

Remember, in order to be considered an active member you must attend at least 2
meetings per semester and complete at least 3 hours of service through NSCS per
year! Outside service hours can count for extra points, but make sure you sign up for
the service trips we offer! If you CANNOT attend one month’s meetings please do
not email any of the officers—just try to make the next month’s instead!

Lastly, any general questions regarding NSCS can be sent to our president, Fernando, at

udNSCSpresident@gmail.com. Information is always being updated on our Facebook page
(http://www.facebook.com/nscs.delaware) so please check out that site first for any information
you’re looking to find! Any questions about points can be sent to udnscssecretary@gmail.com.

Also, please do not sign up for any PACE or Community Service trips if you are not sure
you can go. There are only a limited number of spots for each trip, and if you sign up and do not
participate, you're taking the spot of another member who might need the community service
hours! Also, if you do not attend and do not provide a legitimate excuse, you will lose 3 points.
Hope you all have an awesome Thanksgiving and see you next month!
Your NSCS Secretary,

Gabrielle Perrotti
