object on a paper
by scaling the sizes.
8. 3. Drawing Board

portable board
made of softwood,
wherein a drawing
paper is fastened
on top.
Their working edge
should be perfectly
straight and their
surface is trim and
smooth.
9. 4. Protractor
Is used for measuring
and laying out arcs
and circles as well as
angles that cannot
be measured with
either the 45°or the
30° x 60° triangles.
It is half-circle
shaped instrument,
made of transparent
plastic used for
guiding a draftsman
in drawing different
angles.

Is used for drawing
arcs and circles. It is
made of the lower
portion of the pencil
leg.

drawing paper on
the drawing board.

20. Proper Care of Drafting and
other Materials
Pencils should be sharpened whenever they
show signs of dullness.
Never use the edge of T-square and triangles
to cut paper along its working edge. A slight
nick at the edge will ruin the T-square.
Wipe off the surface and edges of your Tsquare and triangles before and after using
them.
Avoid dropping your compass, divider and
technical pens.
Provide a place to hang individually your Tsquares, triangles, protractors and French
curves after using them.
21. Provide
a separate container for drawing
pencils, compasses, dividers, rolling pens
and technical pens.
Wash the nibs of your compass after using
them.
Dry the compass nibs and needlepoint after
washing. Store them in a dry place. This will
avoid rust formation on the instrument’s
parts.
Keep tools and equipment in their proper
place after using them.
