1. Biography
Laurie Brown
A native New Yorker, I spent most of my adolescence living in
Worthington, Ohio. I attended the Columbus College of Art and Design,
where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree, majoring in illustration.
After graduating, I moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico for a short time
before returning to Columbus. I got married shortly thereafter, started a
family, and took the next few years to focus my attention on raising my
children.
For the past twelve years I have been living in Pennsylvania with my
husband and two children. I turned a passion for decorating into a small
business, decorating many homes by creating a variety of unique murals,
custom faux finishes and interior accessories, as well as selecting color
choices, fabrics and room lay-outs for my clients. Although I enjoy
decorating, I’ve now turned my focus back to fine art. In 2008 I began
working on some new pieces of art, and am truly in my element when I’m
being creative.
My inspiration for these pieces of “paper art” came to me from a memory
of a craft I did in camp when I was a child. Many hours of designing,
cutting, painting, rolling paper, and beading are put into each piece of art.
The end result should draw you in, make you step back, and be fun to look
at. I have a blast creating them! I hope you enjoy them, too.
