My name is Sameal. I am 5 years old. Before the earthquake I lived in my uncle’s house with 11 other people in my family. During the earthquake my house fell down. I was trapped inside, but my uncle finally found me. Now we are looking for others in my family. I really miss my cousin, Jovany, who is 5 like me.
My name is Tessa. I am 22 years old, and I have a little baby girl named Ayida (it means “spirit of love”). Right now Ayida and I are without our family. We are sleeping on the ground every night, with some plastic over our heads. Ayida is ok, but yesterday she started to have a very runny nose, and I am worried about her.
I am Jean. I am 10 years old. I am trying to take care of my little brother, Joe. Joe is only 2, and needs help with so many things. Our parents did not survive in the earthquake, so I am thinking that Joe and I might be going to live with another family. I do not know if this family will live in the U.S., or somewhere else. I do not know what will happen to us.
My name is Jean. I came to the United States when I was 13 because my mom wanted me to go to school. My older brothers and sisters didn’t go, so when I had the chance to live with my aunt my mother sent me here. My Aunt and I watch the news and hope that the phone will ring with some news of my family. I love America but I wish that I could be at home to help my family. I wish I knew how they were doing. I love them all so much…
I am Lesly Luc and I am 11 years old. When the quake hit I ran out of my house. I wandered the city with my mom and my brother. My mom was screaming. Many hours later we found my father. He was covered in dust. I am living in a tent with sixteen people. Since the quake I have been drawing, writing, and sleeping. My toys are gone and I miss going to school.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-01-24-haiti-children_N.htm
I am Anny Michele and I am 30 years old. I am exhausted. I carry my son around or we sleep in a yard. We tried to stay with friends, but their home is destroyed. My son Schneider hasn’t been talking since the quake. He cries. It is so hard when he says that he is hungry and thirsty and I have nothing to give him. He is a smart boy and I hope that he can go back to school some day.
http://www.usatoday.com/news/world/2010-01-24-haiti-children_N.htm
http://briefings.dadeschools.net/files/98344_2009_Haitian_Resource_packet.pdf
