1. Learning shapes in Ms. Courtney’s Class!

2. Analyzing the learner
There are eleven children in Ms. Courtney’s kindergarten
class at St.Joe Catholic School. The class consists of six
girls and five boys. In the classroom there are two African
Americans, one Asian, and eight Caucasians.
The students’ seemed to have a great time learning about
shapes and developed and understanding of them. All of
the children now know the difference in shapes and can
point them out in everyday life.
I think I would also try to incorporate 3D shapes if I were
to change anything about this lesson.

3. Shapes
My students will recite and talk about different
shapes. Through music, art, repetition, and
sensory activities they will gain understanding of
shapes. They will master these shapes by the end
of the unit with one hundred percent accuracy.

4. Day One
On day one we will introduce
all the different shapes.
They will be given cards with
a shape on it and have to
mimic that shape with
play dough.

5. Day Two
On day two we will use colored popsicle sticks to
make the shapes. We will also have common
household objects such as toilet paper, and tissue
boxes to show examples of each shape.

6. Day Three
On day three we are going to watch YouTube
videos to learn about different shapes!

7. Day Four
On day four we will use the sensory table to make
shapes out of shaving cream.

8. Day Five
On day five we will play a game
similar to twister.When the
shape is called the child will
have to put their foot on
that shape.
