3. Our Mission
The purpose of Phi Theta Kappa shall be to recognize and
encourage SCHOLARSHIP among two-year college
students. To achieve this purpose, Phi Theta Kappa shall
provide opportunity for the development of
LEADERSHIP and SERVICE, for an intellectual climate
of exchange of ideas and ideals, for lively FELLOWSHIP
for scholars, and for the stimulation of interest in
continuing academic excellence.

PHI THETA KAPPA
HONOR SOCIETY
12. Our Golden Key
Across the center of the slab is a
black enamel band upon which three
Greek letters appear, which are the
initials of three mystic Greek words
phronimon (Phi), thumos
(Theta), katharotes (Kappa) and
meaning wisdom, aspiration, and
purity.
13. Our Golden Key
Behind the band is a
wreath, composed of oak leaves
on one side and composed of
laurel on the other.
14. Our Golden Key
The wreath of oak leaves
denotes stability and strength of
character, and the curling
leaves of laurel signify
achievement and success.
15. Our Golden Key
Above the band is a representation
of the head of Athena, symbol of
learning; on the base appears the
Greek letters forming the word
meaning light, the light of learning
and knowledge
(φῶς, phi, omega, and sigma).
16. Before we honor our new
members
Thank you!
To our 2013-2014 PTK advisors…
…for all that you do.
• All the encouragement you give
• All the guidance you impart
• All the checking up on us
21. We are PTK!
PHI THETA KAPPA is not only great for finding volunteer
opportunities in the community, but also great for forming connections
with others outside your own social circle. PTK members also take their
membership status with them even if they transfer to another college or
university. Once a PTK member, always a PTK member!
