9. “I'd be grossed out if I had to watch
them [Mike & Molly] doing anything. To
be brutally honest, even in real life, I find
it aesthetically displeasing to watch a
very, very fat person simply walk across
a room.”
Maura Kelly, Marie Claire

14. “Regarding fear…aren’t we all scared of something?
I am scared most of the time about a variety of
things-scared that I will never find someone who
loves me for who I truly am... So I have made the
decision to not be scared about biking. Yes, I am in
a city congested with cars, buses and taxis, but if
you are smart, you will find there is room for all of
us, and no room for fear.”

15. 1. Please consider wearing a dorky looking
helmet. Looking silly is better than a brain
injury. Yes, we’ve all heard miracles of the
person a helmet would’ve killed, but you
probably aren’t that person.
2. Buy non-owner’s operator insurance. Yes, car
insurance for people who don’t own cars.
Perfect for pedestrians and cyclists.
I even started to shift gears on my blog of old, writing about my vintage Schwinn Varsity and how it felt to pedal 9 miles to work and 9 miles home. To travel across the city powered by my body and the food that fueled it. To see the skyline and the lake and feel the city under my wheels. I started looking for clothes to wear on longer rides.

So I went looking. My sister had long ago told me of Kate Harding from Shapely Prose and a book called Health at Every Size. Tumblr introduced me to Fat Activists and Size Acceptance bloggers.
