20. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
By: Stephen R. Covey
In The 7 Habits of Highly Effective
People presents a holistic,
integrated, principle-centered
approach for solving personal
and professional problems. With
penetrating insights and pointed
anecdotes, the book reveals a
step-by-step pathway for living
with fairness, integrity, service,
and human dignity; principles
that give us the security to adapt
to change and the wisdom and
power to take advantage of the
opportunities that change
creates.

21. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 1: Be Proactive
Take initiative by realizing that your decisions are the
primary determining factor for effectiveness in life.
I chose to take an MBA even if my field is IT because I
want to enter finance and marketing and become
successful in it.
Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind
Self-discover and clarify your deeply important
character values and life goals.
I do this because I want to achieve financial stability in
order to provide for my future family the same comfort
and privilege provided to me by my parents.
Habit 3: Put First Things First
Prioritize, plan and execute based on importance.
I prioritize my studies, my career and my business. My
actions are directed toward becoming excellent in
what I do.

22. 7 Habits of Highly Effective People
Habit 4: Think Win-Win
Genuinely strive for mutually beneficial solutions or
agreements in your relationships.
Compromise is the key. In my teams, I am willing to hear out
other people before coming up with a solution which is
beneficial to both parties involved.
Habit 5: Seek First to Understand, Then to be Understood
Use emphatic listening to be genuinely influenced by a
person which compels them to reciprocate.
I always put myself in the shoes of the other when making
important decisions. This way, when I speak, the other
person hears me out too.
Habit 6: Synergize
Combine the strengths of people through positive teamwork
so as to achieve foals no one person could have done.
There is no I in TEAM. I personally acknowledge that I cannot
do everything myself. I have a partner in my business who
handles operations as I understand I have very little
knowledge in that field.
Habit 7: Sharpen the Saw
MAGIS. Men for Others. Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam.

23. Personal SWOT
A personal SWOT analysis
is a powerful technique
that can be used when
seeking a career change
(or indeed any other
personal change in your
life). Linked to a strong
and powerful goal, it can
enable you to take
advantage of your
skills, talents and abilities
to take your career to the
next level.

27. Monitors
To ensure that I win the race, I need to manage some
checks:
1. Cash/Budget/Spending Monitor
Use iPhone and iPad applications to track expenses (cash
and credit card usage) to monitor how much I am
spending each day. In the end, this will tell me if I am over
my budget and if there is a need for belt-tightening.
2. Time Monitoring System
Make a daily schedule of activities to ensure that I don’t
waste time doing unimportant things. This also keeps track
of my projects and activities.
3. Blog/Diary
This is a daily storytelling of what transpired to me during
the day. Preferably includes a daily highlight where I
explain something different that happened to me and
hopefully a lesson that I learned during the day,

4. Investment Portfolio
It is vital that I keep track of my investments
(savings, UITF’s, stock market and mutual funds).
This way, I can predict earnings in the year(s) to
come especially since these are long terms
investments. I will eventually use the money for my
family (education, food, etc.)
5. Diet/Sports
I will use this to track my exercise, food intake
(calories) and weight. I would also like to monitor
my heart rate and blood pressure as my family
has a history of high blood pressure and heart
ailments. I want to live a long healthy life.
ph.linkedin.com/in/nathanielianlee
29. The Race Towards the Goal
We live in a world where people are always rushing
toward the goal. While there’s nothing wrong with it, we
all must learn to enjoy the journey. In this journey, we
meet people who will have a huge impact in our lives.
I would like to leave my mark in this world where I can tell
my wife and kids that I lived a fulfilled life. That I was able
to provide for them, the same if not more than I
received. That I took care of my parents and family
when they’re retired. That I became someone essential
in a multinational company and that I am a top
entrepreneur in the country. That I was able to give back
to the community by building a social enterprise where I
help the underprivileged by providing good jobs with
steady income.
I will always keep on BLAZING. The flame will never die
down.
