People used the hashtag #Haiti to spread information about needs and offers as well as eyewitness accounts in the area via Twitter. Texting Haiti to 90999 automatically allowed people to contribute $10 to the American Red Cross Haiti Relief and Development Fund which raised more than $10 million.
