There are 3 types of crime scenes in
A Crime Scene Investigation.

• Primary

• Secondary

• Tertiary
Primary Crime Scene: The main and
Original location of the Crime.

Chances of Finding Good Evidence: High

Examples: Robberies: A store, a bank ,
Armored trucks
Secondary Crime Scene: The
Alternate location site from the
Original crime scene.

Chances of finding Good Evidence : 50/50

Examples: Murder: Body dump site, or
Murderers home.
Tertiary Crime Scenes: the third and
Alternate location site from the
Original crime scene.

Chances of finding good Evidence: Low

Examples: Robberies: A getaway car.
There are 3 types of evidence in
A Crime Scene Investigation.
1. Testimonial Evidence: It is
Usually a written or a verbal
Statement.
2.Physical Evidence: Any material item
Found at a crime scene.(weapon, clothes)
3. Trace Evidence: Really small evidence
(hair, fingerprints, fiber, residue)
 How Crime Scene Investigation
Works is that when the CSI Units
Get a call from the police to be
Dispatched to the scene.

 When they arrive, 4 processes are
Taken into account, to gather the
Evidence necessary.
The CSI arrives on the scene and
makes sure it is secure. They do
an initial walk-through to get an
overall feel for the crime scene, finds
out if anyone moved anything before
they arrived, and generates initial
theories based on visual examination.
they makes note of potential evidence.
nothing is touched in this process.
The CSI documents the scene by
taking photographs and drawing
sketches during a second walk-
through. Sometimes, the
documentation stage includes a video
walk-through, as well. The team
documents the scene as a whole and
documents anything they has
identified as evidence. The evidence is
still untouched.
The team can now touch stuff -- very,
very carefully. The CSI systematically
makes their way through the
scene collecting all potential evidence,
tagging it, logging it and packaging it
so it remains intact on its way to the
lab. Depending on the task breakdown
of the CSI unit, they may or may not
analyze the evidence in the lab.
The crime lab then processes all of the
evidence the CSI Unit has collected at
the crime scene. When the lab results
are in, they go to the lead detective on
the case.
Suspects: Referred to as Perps
(Perpetrator) , they are usually
The murderer, robber, or
Assailant of a crime.
Accomplice: Someone who
Participates in a crime, even though
They haven't committed one.
(lookout, escaper driver etc.)
Person of Interest: It is a common
Phrase used by law enforcements, it
Has an undefined meaning, but it
Usually refers it to the suspect,
Target or key witness.
The 5 types of personal in a
Crime Scene Investigation.
• CSI Unit
• Police Officer
• District Attorney
• Specialists
• Detectives
The main part of the CSI Investigation
Team. They document the crime scene
In detail, by following a 4 step process
And collects any physical or trace
Evidence that they find.
The Police Officers are the first to
Arrive at a crime scene. They can arrest
Assailant if he/she is there or call an
ambulance if necessary. They are also
Responsible for securing the crime
Scene so no evidence is destroyed.
The District Attorney is usually present
To help investigators whenever or not
They require any search warrants from
The judge to help them in their case.
The Specialist is usually a entomologist, a
Forensics scientist or a forensics psychologist.
They are only called when the investigators
need them to analyze the evidence which
Requires expert analysis.
The detectives job is to interview any
Witnesses at the crime scene and to
Consult with the CSI Unit. They then
Follow leads provided by the witnesses
And the evidence from the CSI Units.
 There are 3 types of crime scenes.
 There are 3 types of evidence.
 There are 4 steps the CSI Units
follow to gather evidence.
 There are 5 personnel's in a
crime scene investigation team.
• There were 9 soundtracks playing
