Logistic facility have usually high energy consumption.
Here are some ideas to reduce energy losses in logistics facility and help our business be more sustainable

The problem
Many temperature-controlled
facilities have much higher energy
consumption than is necessary.
With the right know-how and fairly
simple solutions, energy
consumption can be dramatically
reduced – a benefit to both you
and the environment.

Reduce energy losses at dock bay?
The equipment configuration
3 things to consider:
The leveller If you have the place the
best solution is of course
the load-house-
But sometimes it is not
possible due to too lack of
place in front of the dock
the alternative is Isodock.

Your building
seen from the Top
If that is not the case you will have to have
your dock leveller inside the building
You can install a load-house if the
distance between building and the
fence is more than 2X the length of a truck

Isodock reduce seriously the energy losses.
The heat transfer is 50% lower than with a non
insulated leveller

The gap between the dock leveller frame and platform is often
leaking
12. A Cardo brand www.cardo.com
EPDM Sealing eliminates draft and reduces energy losses by 12%
compared to a leveller without it.

•The shelter The shelter is here to seal the
space between the dock door
and the truck.

•Mechanical shelter with corner seals
Two types of shelter
•Airbag shelter
Seals 20% better than no shelter
Seals 20% better than the mechanical shelter
Leakage and air flow drive costs
An adapted and well maintained dock shelter can save
as much as 90% of the energy losses due to the open
space between truck and door.
On mechanical shelters
corner seals should
always be installed.

The Dock door
An insulated door is a must but
Bottom and top sealing have to be in good shape and well adjusted
U Value
U-values gauge how well a material
allows heat to pass through.
The U value is depending on the
design and thickness of the door.
For overhead sectional door with
insulated panels this U value is around
1W/m2K and it can go up to 4W/m2K
for a glazed door.
Maintaining your door will help you
secure that the door always insulate as
it did when you purchased it.

Well maintained Side Sealing eliminate draft
18. A Cardo brand www.cardo.com
To limit draft at all time an airlock system based on a
combination of a sectional door and a high speed door
should be installed
Air lock function
To minimize energy losses we have
developed and delivered air lock system
based on a combination of traditional
overhead sectional door and a wind
resistant high speed door reducing draft during
the loading unloading process tremendously.
