The reason why I chose this topic is due to my personal experience as a Head Start teacher working with children who live in low income. The families that I work with are parents who have dropped out of high school and are looking to obtain their G.E.D. The children are at higher risk in behavioral issues because of the lack of education that their parents have. My observation with children imitating the movies or repeating songs that they hear with their peers raises concern about children understanding the difference between reality and fantasy.
This shows how much children pay attention to the things that they are exposed to. Music, movies, television shows, and the adults that are in the household. Children between the ages of 3 and 5 are capable of mimicking what they see, hear, and experience. They will show it in their play.
