2. A prominent photographer with considerable
experience in the field, Lisabeth Christy has
owned and operated her own photography
studio for nearly a decade. In 2005, Lisabeth
Christy spent a summer working on a Habitat
for Humanity build in Southern Costa Rica.
In the small Central American nation of Costa
Rica, more than half of the population lives in
inadequate housing or settlements, with nearly
20 percent living in poverty conditions.

3. To address unmet housing needs in the country,
Habitat for Humanity has spent more than 16 years
building housing for families living in substandard
conditions. During its first three years in Costa Rica,
Habitat for Humanity built 50 houses. Since then,
the organization and its volunteers have built over
1,000 houses in communities throughout the
country. In addition to building new houses, Habitat
for Humanity provides financial education to partner
families and upgrades infrastructure in such
important areas as Sabalo, Las Vueltas, Colorado,
and Altamira.
