This document outlines the agenda and assignments for an English course focused on improving academic research and writing skills. The main assignments are blogging, a film analysis, a group presentation, and a Social Action Research Project. For the project, students will research a social issue, conduct interviews and collect data to analyze. They will write an annotated bibliography, literature review, and report on their findings and conclusions. The goal is to give students experience investigating and addressing real-world problems to enact positive change in their community. Additional class activities include free writes, discussions on the differences between everyday and academic writing, and exercises to develop critical reading abilities.
