2. Frontcover
The masthead will attract
my audience as it is large
and the red box with the
“A” placed in it will stand
out on newsstands. Also,
the tagline “the new
alternative” will suggest to
readers that the magazine
is about alternative/indie
music, so therefore they
will be intrigued to read it.
The main article title will attract readers as it is
large an in a black box so it will stand out. Also,
a lot of “indie” people (my audience) love finding
out about new artists so they will be encouraged
to buy the magazine and read it.
3. Frontcover
The fact that these extra
articles are in red boxes
stand out to readers and
make them want to read
them.
The way I made the name “Lukas”
the biggest text on the front cover
suggest he’s important and also
because I put “featuring” before his
name relating to “50 new artists for
2016” makes the reader want to
know more about him because it
makes him seem as if he’s an artist
that you should be listening to.
These extra artists which I included in my magazine
will also attract my audience as they’re quite popular
(except from Charlie xy who is a fake artist for my
magazine) and therefore this may encourage them
to read my magazine as they will want to read about
their favourite artists
4. Contents page
These article numbers will
attract my audience as it
they’re large and tells them
exactly which page the artists
are on, it also suggests
they’re the main focus of the
magazine so if a reader just
wanted to read about the
cover star they would see the
large numbers first and then
look at who they’re about.
I made sure I included images on my contents page as I wanted it to be visual. I also
made sure the models I used were of different genders as I wanted my magazine to be
gender neutral so it would be appealing to all genders. Additionally, the images inform
the reader what they look like and this may encourage readers to read the article as
they may think they look “cool” or attractive.
5. Double page spread
These pull quotes will attract my reader because they might read the quotes first
and think they’re interesting and want to know more about the artists and the
context of the quotes.
The images I used should
attract my audience as well
because the artists is in a
tree and that makes him
seem more interesting and
the reader will want to know
more about him. Also, in the
other image he’s making eye
contact which makes an
instant connection with the
readers. Additionally, the way
I edited the images might
appeal to the “indie”
audience as the indie look is
portrayed in the images.
6. Double page spread
I included this title as when
the reader is flicking through
pages they may see this and
it might encourage them to
read the article.
I used the same male model for the majority of my photos for the magazine and I
think this will appeal to both male and female audiences. This is because the
majority of the male audience might think he’s interesting and cool whereas the
majority of the female audience might think he’s attractive. This will mean they will
be attracted to the magazine and want to learn more about him. Also, the image of
the female artist on my contents page might mean that males might find her
attractive and will be encouraged to read the magazine.
7. Feedback
During the making of my double page spread, I received some feedback from my
peers on how I could improve. It was said that I should change the image on the
left to something more interesting and lively. So, I looked at the images I had
taken and chose the image of my model in a tree. I think this image is more
captivating and I feel like this improvement will appeal to my audience better as it
makes the artist look more fascinating.

8. Feedback
Front cover: I like
the fact that the artist
looks mysterious and
how the image is
quite moody looking.
I also like the large
text “lukas”.
Contents page: I like
how you have stuck
to a colour scheme,
the red is striking. I
also like the large
image of the girl, this
way it’s not just one
male artist.
Double page
spread: I like how
you have edited
these images and the
clothes he is wearing,
I think this appeals to
an indie audience.
Front cover: I like
the large title and
how you have kept to
the same colours.
Contents page: The
use of the large
numbers are eye
catching, it definitely
brings my attention to
the articles. As well,
its very clear and
organised so it’s easy
to read.
Double page
spread: I like how
the A in Lukas is cut
out into the
background unlike
the others, I think it
gives it an
alternative/indie look.
