2. Context
• Our topic for this term is the EGYPTIANS!
• This trip will provide a broader context for
their learning and will look at all areas of
Egyptian life: from rituals and religion to their
daily life.
• This topic will feed into three curriculum
areas: History, RE and Art.
• The scheme of work is planned to take place
over six weeks.
3. • The children will have had their initial History
lesson discussing what they would like to find
out, with the trip serving to inspire them,
increase their curiosity and give them a
tangible experience to inform their learning.

5. Visit Schedule
• The trip will take place over half a day.
• 9:30 The group will leave school (IoE).
• 10:00 They will have a presentation by a member of
the British Museum staff, then a 15 minute Q&A on
questions which have come from their previous
History lesson.
• 11:00 Exploring the Egyptian Collection. Archeology
Detective activity.
• 12:30 lunch in Education Centre.
• 1:30 Head back to school.
• 1:45 Arrive back at school.
6. Outcomes
• The children will be better informed having
concrete examples to relate their learning to. By
seeing examples from the Egyptian period, they
will gain a better understanding of the way of life
and how long ago the Egyptian period was
through looking at artifacts.
• This will be greatly beneficial to their artwork as
they will be able to observe products from the
time.
• It will give them an overview of their learning for
the weeks to come.
