Functional outline and 5 Cs document
• A functional outline is a specific, proper organizational pattern for things such as
letters, and memos. This outline helps create a professional, presentable document.
• The 5 Cs stand for: clear, concise, complete, correct, and courteous. This is also to be
used when writing letters or memos. The 5 C’s provide a way to self-check your
writing to assure everything is accurate. This serves as steps to follow through with
the completion of your memo or letter.
• I learned this particular quality very specifically. The use of these were reiterated
in each assignment to reassure everything was in proper form and all the materials
were provided.

• This is the most significant thing to be learned because if
you have mastered this, all the material you present will be
in proper form and everything will be professional and
appropriate. This provides the perfect outline for the
completion of all letters and memos.
• I will take this skill and use it in my future business career.
Being a business major, I will be required to write many
memos and letters and it is exceedingly important that
they are in proper form to present myself professionally.
Module 5: Designing Documents,
Slides, and Screens
I have learned from module 5 that proper design is very
important in presenting your business professionally.
This module taught how to construct presentations and
websites correctly.
This module helped with many assignments throughout
the course of the semester such as the Midterm
Reflection Assignment and Analysis Assignment 3.
This is a very significant learning matter because in the business world many
presentations will be required, and in order to be successful, you must
present your business properly.
This class has taught me many important things that will help me in my
future career in the business field. I have learned a lot of information that I
know I can always go back to, to help me with being successful.
Module 23: Short Reports
This module taught us of a few different types of reports and how to create the
best short report possible. From this module, we also learned the importance of
using proper organization and specific, polite questions to ask in a short report.
I learned this particular subject very well and practiced it while writing the
recommendation letters for the One Campus, One Book project. Having it peer
reviewed also helped me look at things from another perspective to improve
myself.
This learning matter is significant because writing
proper short memos will be very useful for the future
in writing memos to coworkers or possibly your boss.
I will take this skill into my future business profession
and use it as a way to show my knowledge and
properly and professionally present myself.
Module 22: Finding, Analyzing, and
Documenting Information
In this module, I learned strategies for interviews and survey questions and
the proper ways to answer them. I also learned how to find information
using different sources and how to properly cite the sources.
I learned this very specifically by practicing what was presented in the
course modules when completing the assignments throughout the semester
such as the Midterm Reflection Assignment and Analysis Assignment 3.
This learning matter is important because this is a very
useful tool in finding reliable information and creating cited
information.
This material I have learned will be important in the future
and I will take what I have learned and use it to be
successful.
Module 12: Persuasive Messages
This module taught how to create a persuasive message by comparing
strategies and creating subject lines. We also learned the various types
of persuasive messages.
I learned this very specifically because there were a few different
assignments such as Analysis Assignment 4 and Writing Assignment 3,
in which we had to use these persuasive techniques.
This learning matter is very significant because
being able to persuade your audience is very
useful in the business world.
I will use this skill to expand my knowledge of
writing and better improve my wring skills.
Persuasion is not my strongest subject, therefore
this module was of great use to me.
Module 21: Proposals and Progress
Reports
In this module, I learned how to outline reports in the workplace, address
business situations and effectively use organization strategies.
I learned this specifically for the completion of Writing Assignment 3 and
Analysis Assignment 4.
This learning matter is important
because it teaches relevant
information about strategies
needed to be successful in the
business world.
This will greatly help me grow in
the business world and help me
expand my knowledge and develop
into a more successful individual.
Social Media Supplementary Materials:
Week 11 Lesson Folder
From the social media materials, I learned how popular
social media has become. Though it is obvious that it is
very common in mostly every individuals everyday life, I
learned it is in fact the new form of communication.
I learned this very specifically as I broke down the
requirements in completing Analysis Assignment 4.
This learning matter is important because staying upto-date with the newest things can help you succeed in
the business world and expand your cliental.
I will use this knowledge to grow and take steps
forward in my future career and take it as a way to
remember how important it is to stay in the grove of the
newest things to capture the attention of a wide variety
of people.

Final Course Reflection and 5 Key Lessons Learned

  • 2. Functional outline and 5 Cs document • A functional outline is a specific, proper organizational pattern for things such as letters, and memos. This outline helps create a professional, presentable document. • The 5 Cs stand for: clear, concise, complete, correct, and courteous. This is also to be used when writing letters or memos. The 5 C’s provide a way to self-check your writing to assure everything is accurate. This serves as steps to follow through with the completion of your memo or letter. • I learned this particular quality very specifically. The use of these were reiterated in each assignment to reassure everything was in proper form and all the materials were provided. • This is the most significant thing to be learned because if you have mastered this, all the material you present will be in proper form and everything will be professional and appropriate. This provides the perfect outline for the completion of all letters and memos. • I will take this skill and use it in my future business career. Being a business major, I will be required to write many memos and letters and it is exceedingly important that they are in proper form to present myself professionally.
  • 3. Module 5: Designing Documents, Slides, and Screens I have learned from module 5 that proper design is very important in presenting your business professionally. This module taught how to construct presentations and websites correctly. This module helped with many assignments throughout the course of the semester such as the Midterm Reflection Assignment and Analysis Assignment 3. This is a very significant learning matter because in the business world many presentations will be required, and in order to be successful, you must present your business properly. This class has taught me many important things that will help me in my future career in the business field. I have learned a lot of information that I know I can always go back to, to help me with being successful.
  • 4. Module 23: Short Reports This module taught us of a few different types of reports and how to create the best short report possible. From this module, we also learned the importance of using proper organization and specific, polite questions to ask in a short report. I learned this particular subject very well and practiced it while writing the recommendation letters for the One Campus, One Book project. Having it peer reviewed also helped me look at things from another perspective to improve myself. This learning matter is significant because writing proper short memos will be very useful for the future in writing memos to coworkers or possibly your boss. I will take this skill into my future business profession and use it as a way to show my knowledge and properly and professionally present myself.
  • 5. Module 22: Finding, Analyzing, and Documenting Information In this module, I learned strategies for interviews and survey questions and the proper ways to answer them. I also learned how to find information using different sources and how to properly cite the sources. I learned this very specifically by practicing what was presented in the course modules when completing the assignments throughout the semester such as the Midterm Reflection Assignment and Analysis Assignment 3. This learning matter is important because this is a very useful tool in finding reliable information and creating cited information. This material I have learned will be important in the future and I will take what I have learned and use it to be successful.
  • 6. Module 12: Persuasive Messages This module taught how to create a persuasive message by comparing strategies and creating subject lines. We also learned the various types of persuasive messages. I learned this very specifically because there were a few different assignments such as Analysis Assignment 4 and Writing Assignment 3, in which we had to use these persuasive techniques. This learning matter is very significant because being able to persuade your audience is very useful in the business world. I will use this skill to expand my knowledge of writing and better improve my wring skills. Persuasion is not my strongest subject, therefore this module was of great use to me.
  • 7. Module 21: Proposals and Progress Reports In this module, I learned how to outline reports in the workplace, address business situations and effectively use organization strategies. I learned this specifically for the completion of Writing Assignment 3 and Analysis Assignment 4. This learning matter is important because it teaches relevant information about strategies needed to be successful in the business world. This will greatly help me grow in the business world and help me expand my knowledge and develop into a more successful individual.
  • 8. Social Media Supplementary Materials: Week 11 Lesson Folder From the social media materials, I learned how popular social media has become. Though it is obvious that it is very common in mostly every individuals everyday life, I learned it is in fact the new form of communication. I learned this very specifically as I broke down the requirements in completing Analysis Assignment 4. This learning matter is important because staying upto-date with the newest things can help you succeed in the business world and expand your cliental. I will use this knowledge to grow and take steps forward in my future career and take it as a way to remember how important it is to stay in the grove of the newest things to capture the attention of a wide variety of people.
