2. Geotagging Flickr & Picasaweb
• If you run a local business, you need what I call
"Geographical Google Juice"
• Upload photos, graphics, cropped screenshots and
geotag them.
• The best way to do this is to use a smartphone
(assuming GPS in enabled on the phone at the time
you took the picture and turned on when you upload
to picture to Flickr and Picasaweb)
• But once uploaded both Flickr and Picasaweb provide a
means to "place your photos on a map"
3. What is Geotagging?
• Wikipedia says:
• Geotagging (also written as GeoTagging) is the
process of adding geographical identification
metadata to various media such as a geotagged
photograph or video, websites, SMS
messages, QR Codes[1] or RSS feeds and is a form
of geospatial metadata. These data usually
consist of latitude and longitude
coordinates, though they can also include
altitude, bearing, distance, accuracy data, and
place names.
7. GeoTagging only accurate within 600
yards (give or take)
• Often when you “add your photo to a map”
with either Flickr or Picasaweb, you’ll find the
marker somewhere in the middle of the
street, just outside your office.
• Foursqure also is only accurate to within 600
to 1000 yards, the next screenshot sequence
is to show you how to drag that marker to
your exact office street address
