Clutter is crazy pants yo!
I can hear my creative types out there protesting with their array of colored pencils, unicorn statues, and
other randomness scattered across the desk.
But, before you get too agitated, remember you don’t have to organize like everyone else!
Use that right brain, get creative, and do what works for you!!!Use that right brain, get creative, and do what works for you!!!

My weekend was jam packed with Spring CleaningSpring Cleaning busyness, so I want to take this Mindful Monday
to share with you some things I did to organize. I hope it will help you get started. You have to find a
system that works for you if you are going to stick with it. Take the ideas you like and leave the ones
you don’t! Feel free to personalize and find alternatives.
I believe a clear mind starts with an organized space. I adore cleanliness and fresh startsI adore cleanliness and fresh starts. It does
take some time, but saves you so much stress in the long run.
I did an overhaul this weekend including:I did an overhaul this weekend including:
Rearranging and organizing drawers & closets
Laundry including all bedding
Cleaned Kitchen and bathrooms
Cut the grass
And the Computer…And the Computer…
Organized blogs I follow into categories
Cleaned up YouTube playlists
Organized email folders and deleted old emails (got through around 400 of them, yes it was out of
hand and I keep too much stuff!)
Cleansed favorites on Safari toolbar (Had over 800, this was also out of hand. The life of a freelance
researcher!)
Updated operating system on Mac and apps across all devices (A huge feat with my slow internet
here in South America)

3. Backed up files
Set up new notes for blog organization with Evernote
On top of all that, I even gave myself a haircut (I needed a fresh start too), and participated in some
Link Parties! If you don’t know what a link party is, check out the sidebar and join us!
Wow! Deep breathe!Wow! Deep breathe! What a list and it has been active to say the least. I cannot even begin to tell
how refreshed it makes me feel, though, to have everything organized.
I suggest you Spring Clean your environment, it’s fabulous I promise, but I want to focus on organizing
your Mac and online life.
There are many ways to go about getting that browser, those online accounts, and your computer files
more streamlined.
Put on a fantastic, upbeat playlist (try Stereomood), and let’s get started…
My Weekend Spring Cleaning Resources Mac
StickiesStickies
Does anyone else adore this feature? I happen to think post it notes are charming and Mac’s Stickies
are just as great on your desktop. I have mine labeled with different categories and use them
throughout the day to store passwords, marketing campaigns, quotes I find, and more! I like that you
can make notes a different color and change the font.
EvernoteEvernote
I know I’m a bit behind on this one, but I just started making use of it. Evernote is now my go to for blog
post ideas. I have a note for each of our categories here at Immensely Social and love being able to add
not only text, but web clippings, as well.
I have Evernote on my Mac, but also on my Kindle Fire. When I am out and about or doing other things,
I can add notes on my Kindle app which are synced to my computer. Everything is where I need it, when
I need it. Isn’t technology marvelous!
Google Docs and DropBoxGoogle Docs and DropBox
I have a Seagate external hard drive that I have had for years and has always served me well. It’s great
for storing older files and pictures that I don’t currently need on my laptop. I also like to be able to back
stuff up online. Google Docs and Dropbox are both good choices.
I used Rashidrupani on Fiverr to back up the blog here and then dropped the zip into Google Docs, so if
a crash happens (knocking on wood), I’m at least a bit prepared.

4. I thought I was being organized with my emails. After all, I have separate files for friends,
business newsletters, etc. But, I had let emails in each folder fill up. I vow to never let it get that bad
again! I am a busy girl with good intentions to read all this stuff, but let’s face it…
It Ain’t Happening!
I have sorted my folders, unsubscribed from lists I’m less interested in, and committed to being realistic
about what I actually may read later.
And the files…. Oh, my the files!!!And the files…. Oh, my the files!!!
I had been noticing that my poor little MacBook was running slow. With tons of duplicate content, the
hundreds of articles, documents, and posts I have written over the last year, and lots of graphics, it’s no
wonder.
My job requires a lot of files and saved content, but I can now say it’s under control for the most part. It
will be an ongoing process, but at least it’s under way. I upgraded to OS Mavericks and deleted all the
duplicates I could find. A confessed “downloadable ebook junkie” I now have all those ebooks in their
own files and categories based on content, as well.
Again we are back to the “Will I ever actually read this” scenario, but I have high hopes. If you find
yourself in need of one more ebook, check out my free giveaway here: Blogging Tips & Tricks for
Branding and Content Creation (It’s just for special people like you!)
Here is a quick tutorial on using the tabs feature in finder. You also have the ability to color code with
tabs, a nice feature. I plan to work on my files more with this…
Clutter happens, life happens, but you don’t have to let it take over and rule!Clutter happens, life happens, but you don’t have to let it take over and rule!
I sold almost everything, down to there suitcases, a little under two years ago. There is nothing like
moving to another continent to learn how to do more with less.
Simplicity truly is a gift!Simplicity truly is a gift!
YouTube has many tutorials on organizing your Mac if you are up for more.
If you make time on a weekly basis to quickly go through, delete what you don’t need, and organize
what you do, you will keep things neat and save tons of time later.
