2. Factoring GCF first
• Remember in Topic 1 we factored by finding the
GCF? Well, sometimes we have a trinomial that has a
GCF and can be factored into 2 binomials.
• If you can factor a GCF, always factor the GCF first
before using any other factoring method.

3. Factoring & your Calculator
• Factoring can always be checked by multiplying the
factors, but you can also check your factoring using a
graphing calculator.
• MathBits.com will show you how to use your
TI-83/84+ graphing calculator to check your
factoring.
