2. Portrait
• Portrait Photography or portraiture is
photography of a person or group of
people that displays the expression,
personality, and mood of the subject. The
focus of the photograph is usually the
persons face although the entire body and
context may be included.
• Here is an example of a portrait picture
Richard Avedon has taken of Marilyn
Monroe.
3. Portrait
• I think that the picture taken of Marilyn caught my eye out of all the other
portrait pictures because she is many peoples idol and it catches the real
person she was. Calm, beautiful and no care in the world was given about
peoples opinions.
• Here is my own example of Portrait photography.
• I was trying to achieve a picture of a person around
college and show that this is a form of a portrait
photography as it shows the face of the person.
• Over the years the first cameras captured light by
opening a slide and letting light to strike a plate
which had film on it. Since then pictures can now be
stored and transmitted digitally.
4. Landscape
• Landscape Photography shows spaces within the world, sometimes vast
and unending, but other times microscopic. This type of photography
focuses more on nature but can also focus on man-made features or
disturbances of landscapes.
Picture taken by
David Rowse.
I like this particular
photograph of
landscape because it
shows an image you
would probably never
see yourself. This photo
shows you something
rare and amazing.
5. Landscape
• Here is my Landscape example.
• Here is was trying to capture a
landscape picture. This picture shows
us the outside and a perfect example of
nature to. I wanted to capture the trees
because the outside is mainly what
landscape focuses on.
• Over the years
Landscape photography
has changed. One main
reason is because of the
technology used to
capture the image for
example the cameras
are more improved and
still improving to this
day. Another reason is
because effects on
computers helps make
the picture more better
and the quality is good
that’s why some
pictures look fake.
6. Nature
• Nature photography refers to a wide range of photography taken outdoors
and devoted to displaying natural elements such as landscapes, wildlife,
plants and close-ups of natural scenes and textures.
• This is taken by Ansel Adams.
• I like this photo of nature because it
shows something you would never
see and it shows us a picture no one
else would have similar to. It is a
volcanic eruption and it shows the
ask forming into clouds above which
is actually a very beautiful scene.
7. Nature
• Here is my Nature
photography. It shows us a
picture of flowers which have
naturally grown and are
outside in the fresh air.
• Over the years nature has become more beautiful. There are
more flowers and different landscapes no one else has
captured. It shows us what is around us almost every day in
our life's just makes it look a lot more better in a picture. They
have done this because the cameras and computers have
updated over the years and the quality of the picture shows
everything in more detail making it more eye-catching.
8. Fine Art
• Fine art photography is defined as a picture that is taken with a creative
vision by the photographer who is an artist. Fine Art pictures are mainly
Black and White.
• This was taken by Mark Rothko.
• I like this photo because it shows a
side of geography. It shows us the
sea, seaside and rocks which are
included in geography. It mainly
caught my eye because it is a
black and white picture and the
effects added to make it look dark
and effective.
9. Fine Art
• Here I have tried to capture a good picture representing fine art. I have done
this by showing nature and showing something around college that not
many people would see. It is of plants and I liked it because it looks like a
dark and horrible place but it has the sort of Caribbean side with the trees
and plants.
• Now a days photographers try
and capture a different way of
fine art. By showing us different
landscapes and nature. Just like
all the other types of photography
it has also changed because of
the quality of cameras and
computers.
10. Fashion
• Fashion photography is a genre of photography
devoted to displaying clothing and other fashion
items. Fashion photography is most often
conducted for advertisements or fashion
magazines such as Vogue, Vanity Fair, or Elle.
• Felix Lammers photograph
• I liked this photo because it’s a very
different fashion photo. It mainly
attracts the audience because it
has a pretty girl modeling and it is
all wintery and cold and many
people like the winter season.
Fashion is a little bit different to
other genres of photography
because they are trying to sell a
certain part of the picture.
11. Fashion
• Here I have tried to capture a piece of
fashion photography. I choose this
because you can see a mannequin with a
necklace which is the main product. This
is a very simple and plain photo yet
people will look at it for a certain amount
of time to check the product out and see
whether they like it or not.
• Fashion itself has changed over the years from
long Victorian dresses to short little black
dresses. No matter what their will always be a
new fashion item come out that many people
crave to get. To make the product look a lot more
better then in real life many pictures are taken by
great quality cameras and edited to perfection.
This can look like false advertising.
12. Advertising
• Commercial photography is probably best
defined as any photography for which the
photographer is paid for images rather than
works of art. In this light, money could be paid
for the subject of the photograph or the
• Taken by David photograph itself.
Bellocchio
• I liked this photo
because it is very
simple and it shows the
product straight away.
You can see there is
sushi being advertised
and the photographer
has made that the main
part of the picture…
Dead in the middle.
13. Advertising
• I wanted to capture this photo as part
of advertising because it clearly is
advertising smoothies. I captured the
background of the café to show it is a
food room. I have also caught the
main part which is selling the main
product.
• Over the years advertising has changed. It used to be “laid back” years
ago especially selling cigarettes. They use to tell you how smoking
them would help you loose weight but these days it is illegal to sell them
because it isn't a good things and it was dragging young people down
with them. These days photographers have become so good at
advertising the the product almost looks fake because of how different it
looks in real life. This is because of computers and cameras.
