3. LIFE AS A NURSE
Florence Nightingale accompanied her mother on
visits to sick villagers who served on farms of
large families. The lack of medicines, lack of
resources for treatment and the poor functioning
of hospitals and ways to help.
4. THE CRIMEAN WAR
The Crimean War was a conflict between the
Russian and an alliance of the French Empire the
Britishand the Ottoman, and the Kingdom of
Sardinia. war was part of a long-running contest
between the major European powers for influence
over territories of the declining Ottoman Empire.
Most of the conflict took place on the Crimean
Peninsula, but there were smaller campaigns in
western Anatolia, Caucasus, the Baltic Sea, the
Pacific Ocean and the White Sea.
5. SHE IN THE CRIMEAN WAR
● Those British troops wounded from fighting on the Crimean
Peninsula were shipped across the Black Sea to medical stations
in Turkey. These stations were poorly staffed, with insufficient
supplies, and the medical and sanitary conditions were awful.
This terrible state of affairs was reported by the media in
Britain. Thirty eight voluntary nurses, amongst them Florence
Nightingale, travelled to Turkey to help relieve the situation.
6. SHE IN THE CRIMEAN WAR
Florence Nightingale proved herself to be hugely
resourceful. Her competence and generosity
were reported back in Great Britain. The Times
