Distracted Driving
What is distracted driving?
There are four types of driver distraction:
Visual ‟ looking at something other than the road
Auditory ‟ hearing something not related to
driving
Manual ‟ manipulating something other than the
wheel
Cognitive ‟ thinking abut something other than

Distracted Driving
Most distractions involve more than
one of these types, with both a sensory ‟
eyes, ears, or touch ‟ and a mental component.
Distraction occurs when a driver voluntarily
diverts attention to
something not related
to driving that uses the driver’s eyes, ears, or
hands.

go out
„Call a sober friend, family member to get you

We’re coming to the end of your Warrior Transition Seminar. Here’s what we have done during the last hour or so: By asking you to share your stories from the recent past, what you are feeling now, and what your plans are for the future, we: Started you thinking about some issues that might be a concern later, such as experiences you may have of eliminating the enemy, or seeing innocent people die at the hands of their own oppressive regime. Telling your story to your fellow Seabee is a therapy it gets you talking and getting out your feelings rather than holding them in. Modeled a way to share your story. This is something you need to be doing with your fellow Seabees. Take some of the things you have started sharing here, and continue to talk those issues through. Gather with your comrades in your unit, like many Seabees are already doing. Talk to a trusted friend. Share concerns with your chaplain. We spent some time telling our stories. We talked about where you’ve been, where you are, and where you want to go. And we’ve slipped in some survival training along the way. The fact is that coming home from a hostile environment doesn’t happen all at once. And working here on the things that happened there may take a long, long time. This program is just one step along the way. We hope it’s been a helpful step. Please know that your chaplain stands ready to help you take the steps you want to take, to the future you wantto find, whenever you’re ready. Here are some resources, people you can turn to for support on base, such as the Single Sailor Program, The Fleet & Family Support Center, your Chaplain or LCPOs, MWR, Navy Medicine, etc. If you have any questions, please see one of the chaplains or LCPO’s here today, or your unit chaplain or LCPO.
