After logging in to Moodle, click on the course that you want to edit the group mode in Quickmail in order to control which
group(s) or which recipient(s) each course participant can send emails to via Quickmail. In this case, click on Demo Course.

Before setting the group mode in Quickmail, you must separate the course participants into groups
using the setting Groups in the Administration block.
You may refer to the self-learning material, "Creating groups", to learn how to separate course participants into groups.

To start setting the group mode, click on the Turn editing on button
at the top right corner to switch to the editing mode.

Click on the Configuration icon ( ) in the Quickmail block.

A pull-down menu named Group mode where you can select the group mode appears.
By default, No groups is set.
(Please note that teachers can view and, thus, email to all course participants in Quickmail no matter which Group mode is selected.)

Click on the pull down menu to select the group mode.
Three group modes --- No groups, Separate groups and Visible groups --- are available for your selection.

No groups means that a course participant can view and email to all course participants no matter which group
he/ she belongs to. All course participants are shown in the mailing list on the Compose page.

All course participants are listed in the mailing list on the Compose page.
Each course participant can select and send emails to all or any of the course participants.

If Separate groups is selected, a course participant can only send emails to his/ her own group’s members
and the course participants who do not belong to any groups. Accordingly, the mailing list shown on their Compose page
will only display the names of their group members and those who are not in any groups.

For example, Group 1 students can only see the names of the Group 1 members as well as the course participants
who do not belong to any groups on the Compose page of Quickmail.

If Visible groups is selected, no matter which group he/ she belongs to, a course participant can select and send emails
to the course participants of all groups as well as those who do not belong to any groups.

For example, on the compose page, all the course participants are shown in the mailing list
and their names are displayed by their groups.

After selecting the Group mode, click on the Save changes button to finish.
