2. Contemporary bedroom design calls for clean lines, simplicity,
and subtle elegance. A lot of people choose to have
contemporary bedrooms because they think they are able to relax
more in a space that is not disorderly or too dark. If you want to
design your bedroom in the same style, here are a few pointers.
Selecting the right color palette is a crucial factor to achieving a
contemporary look to your room. Muted grays, beige, and whites
are colors which many contemporary bedrooms have. Still using
these neutral colors isn’t a definite rule. If you do not like neutral
colors for your walls, you can paint them with a bold color, just as
long as you only use one color on the walls, and you use muted
colors for everything else. Limit your color combinations, because
if you use too much, you will still create visual noise even if they
are solid colors.
For the floors, hardwood and tiled
surfaces are preferred for a
contemporary bedroom. If you have
to use a carpet, make sure to get one
with a solid color.
You also have to pay attention when
choosing what furniture pieces go into
your space. Don’t buy furniture that
have carvings, fringes, ruffles, and
curved edges. As for the bed, buy a platform bed. If you have to
buy one with a headboard, make sure the headboard is geometric
and that the bed has no or low footboards. Fitted contemporary
wardrobes are a good item to have in a minimalist bedroom.
Many of the modern wardrobes are usually multi-tiered and
feature sliding doors that cover the entire length of the wall. When
it comes to contemporary bedrooms, less is more. Place only a

arranged in a way that you won’t bump into them while you are
moving around in your room.
Your beddings, curtains, and pillow cases should be equally as
simple. Choose solid colored bedding for a more streamlined
look. It would also be good if your pillows and blanket are of solid
color, too. Go for simpler window treatments like blinds and
roman shades instead of drapes.
Refrain from over-accessorizing your room. Limit extraneous
decorations to only one per surface to make sure that your room
does not look cluttered. In contemporary bedrooms, geometric
shapes in wall art and sculptures are encouraged. Instead of
hanging several pieces of wall art, get one big painting instead.
Keep in mind that the unused spaces on the wall are just as vital,
if not more important, than sections of your wall that have
decorative items.
