What is Bluetooth:
Bluetooth was named after Harald Bluetooth the king of
Denmark. Blue tooth technology is an Industry Wireless Specification
standard for use in various devices for short- range communications.
As a radio based technology it allows devices to share information over
a maximum range of 10 meters. Bluetooth enables mobile computers,
Phones, Handheld devices & the Internet to “Talk the Talk “without
cables.
In past days Infrared and cable Synchronizing were used instead
of Bluetooth. The major drawbacks in these two are in infrared the TX
and Rx have to be lined up with each other, Interference between
devices is uncommon. The cable synchronizing is a little more
troublesome than infrared. So to overcome these problems Bluetooth
has been established.

2. BLUETOOTH FREQUENCY:
Bluetooth communicates on a frequency of 2.45GHz. Bluetooth
uses a Technique called “Spread Spectrum Frequency Hopping”. In this
technique a device will use 79 individual, randomly chosen frequencies
within a designated range
BLUETOOTH MODULE:
Bluetooth Supports Wireless peer to peer connections as well as
wireless access to LANs, mobile Phone Network’s and the internet. The
traditional Bluetooth module consists of the following 3 components,
Radiofrequency component
Base Band Processor
Microcontroller

3. Description of the Project:
This project is used to automate the house and the same
can be applied to an industry also. This project has a provision
for Switching of house hold devices like Fan, Tube lights,
Televisions etc through telephone from a remote handheld device
from anywhere in the house. This is achieved with the use of an
Embedded Microcontroller and a RF TX and RX Module. The
handheld device has a keypad which is used to switch on or
switch off a device.
