- The Policy applies to all final peer-reviewed manuscripts. The Policy does not apply to non-peer-reviewed materials such as correspondence, book chapters, and editorials. The NIH Public Access Policy applies to all final peer-reviewed manuscripts that arise from the NIH intramural program or any amount of direct costs 1 funded by NIH, regardless of the source or amount of other funding. So the policy applies to all of us, including NIH staff 1 Costs that can be specifically identified with a particular project or activity. - A Paper has multiple versions- the final peer-reviewed manuscript is the focus of the Public Access Policy. However, NIH will accept the final published article in lieu of the final peer-reviewed manuscript, if the rights holder grants permission. Revised 4-17-08
