   2. Good manners
Your class mates come from many different parts of the world. We ask that you show
respect for all trainers and classmates and all institute staff regardless of their age,
gender, nationality, religion or the way they look. This helps others to respect you and
bring an important dividend-a good reputation for your country.

attendance record. If a student is more than half an hour late or class, the student will
be marked absent for session.

   5. Speaking English
At the institute speak English as much as possible because it will help you to learn and
will also improve your English. Also, please do not speak your own language in class, it
is rude to students from other countries. You will get much more English practices if
you make friends with students from other countries who are also studying in
Australia.

   6. Class Rules
   a. The only language to be spoken within the classroom at any time is English
   b. Trainers are to be shown and given RESPECT at all times.
   c. Discussions between students are not to be conducted whilst the trainer is

COURSE PROGRAM AND ATTENDANCE

A study period is defined as a Term

   1. Course progress

International students are required to maintain a satisfactory academic progress. To
maintain your progress you are required to pass at least 50% of your scheduled
subjects in any study period.

If a student fails to maintain satisfactory academic progress in a study period, UNI’S
intervention strategy will be initiated (refer to intervention policy on the UNI website).
The student will be notified on the risk of not maintaining satisfactory academic
progress (First warning letter of unsatisfactory course progress) and the continuing risk
of the UNI needing to issue an intention to report to DIAC for unsatisfactory progress if
there is no improvement.

If the student is identified as not making satisfactory course progress in second
consecutive compulsory study period, the student will be contacted by UNI to notify
the DIAC for unsatisfactory progress.

Student who fails to meet this requirement will be in breach of their visa, and will be
advised that they have 20 working days in which to access the complaints and appeals
process.

Students may be eligible to be reassessed and a reassessment fee will apply in such
cases. Please speak to your trainer or course coordinator for more information.

   2. Attendance

UNI is committed to maintaining the highest standards in student academic

INTERVENTION STRATEGY

UNI is committed to the delivery of high quality academic outcomes for students
through the regular monitoring and assessment of student progress and through the
provision of high quality support.

Standard 10 of the National Code 2007, Monitoring Course Progress requires registered
providers to have a documented intervention strategy. The Intervention Strategy
procedures set out the process for identifying and assisting students ‘at risk’ of not
making satisfactory course progress as per our Student Progress policy and procedure.
The strategy specifies procedures for contacting and counselling identified students and
sets out options available to assist students to achieve satisfactory course progress.

At a minimum the intervention strategy must be activated where the student has failed
or deemed not yet competent in 50% or more the course or units studied in any study
period. Refer to Student Progress Policy and Procedure.

UNI issues a number of formal qualifications to students who have completed their

graded as “competent” for each subject in the relevant course. This means they must
gain a PASS grade in all subjects before a qualification document will be issued.

CLASS TIMES/TIMETABLE

Each tem you will be issued with a class timetable and study programme.

A list of subjects will be posted on UNI website.

Please try to be on time for your class as lateness inconveniences fellow students and
staff, and reduces your attendance percentage which may affect your visa. (Please see
the Course progress and Attendance Policy)

   1. Class rolls

Each class you attend has a separate class roll. The roll is marked by the class trainer
each day as a record of your attendance.

   2. Enrolling for next term

Each term you are expected to complete the enrolment process in order to get your
timetable for the term. Enrolment for continuing student is available both online and
face-to-face.

            b. Working while studying

you are not permitted to start work until you have commenced your course
             of study
you can work a maximum of 20 hours per week during the term and
unlimited hours when your course is not in session.
The Department of Immigration and Citizenship (DIAC) considers your course to be “in
session”:
for the duration of the advertised semesters ( including periods when
             exams are being held)
if you have completed your studies and your confirmation of enrolment is
still in effect credited to your main course

            c. Getting a Tax File Number

You must obtain a Tax File Number to be able to work in Australia. A tax file number
(TFN) is your unique reference number to our tax system. When you start work, your
employer will ask you to complete a tax file number declaration form. If you do not
provide a TFN your employment will be taxed at the highest personal income tax rate,
which will mean less money in your wages each week.

            d. Taxation Returns

If you pay too much tax you are entitled to a refund. To get a refund you will need
to lodge a tax return. You can lodge online using e-tax(free), by mailing a paper tax
return, or by paying a registered tax agent to complete and lodge the return for
you. If you lodge by e-tax your refund will normally be issued within 14 days.

Lodge online using e-tax at www.ato.gov.au
For a registered tax agent visit www.tabd.gov
Tax returns are lodged at the end of the Australian tax year (1July to 30 June
         of next year)
