Greetings Keyser Lions!
Summer has flown by and we have been an active club. Our second meeting ofAugust took place on the 15th
at University Place at 6:30 pm. Our guest speaker was Frank Roleff, President of the Mineral County Historical
Society. He talked about some of the current and upcoming activities of the Historical Society. He also told us
about a great deal of fascinating local history. He even had some replicas of early Mineral County maps and
documents for sale.
Our first meeting of September took place on the 5th at 6:30 pm at University Place on the campus of Potomac
State College.After dinner, we heard a presentation by two guest speakers from Sarah’s House – ChildAdvocacy
Center (CAC).AmberTalley and CindyVeach told us about how SARAH's House provides a different way to in-
vestigate, prosecute and treat child abuse and neglect.Amber talked about the investigative work done through
the CAC and Cindy spoke about her work with the children and families. Both women talked about their plans
to improve and expand the program.
Our second meeting of September will be our annual picnic at theWest End Park. It will take place at 6:00 pm
on the 19th. It will be an evening of good food, good fun, and a special event. Please plan to bring your whole
family and a favorite dish to share.
Our first meeting of October will be on the 3rd at University Place at Potomac State College at 6:30 pm. Our
speaker will be Connie Sutton from the Keyser-Mineral County Public Library.

October 10th - LionsWorld Sight Day, held annually in October since 1998, has focused attention on eliminat-
ing preventable blindness and improving sight. OnWorld Sight Day, Lions clubs around the world conduct spe-
cial sight-related projects.
October 25-27 – District 29-I Fall Convention, Martinsburg,WV
