How can we analyze a painting (or almost any work of art) ? 1. The technique used by the artist : oil on canvas, gouache, watercolour, collage... 2. The iconography: What does represent the work? What is the maening of what I see? What does symbolize? Sometimes this is incomphresible if we don’t know anything about the cultural, personal and historical context. 3.
