3. Background Steelcraft, Ingersoll Rand. Produce steel frames and doors. Complete assembly process in plant. Doors produced from raw sheet metal. Formed and assembled to different specifications and orders.

4. Problem Doors formed incorrectly at brake press. Door thickness is consistently formed out of tolerance. Increases production costs. Produce new part Rework Slows production. Produces poor quality product.

5. Problem Why I chose this problem… MET student. I had a coop job with Steelcraft. My task was to reduce overall scrap in the plant. Forming doors/frames produced the most scrap.
